CORRIGENDA

These corrections are transcribed from the author’s own copy of the second edition, which is interleaved and annotated throughout in the author’s hand. They are given as they stand, in parts, as time allows; within each part in the order of the pages. Where the author supplied a replacement for a plate, a table or the map, it is reproduced among the files. Nothing has been added and nothing has been left out.
Any copy of the first (1931) issue is sought. — C.

- p. iv, l. 9: for ‘forty copies’ read ‘thirty copies’.
- p. 9, l. 12: for ‘he cast’ read ‘she cast’.
- p. 14, l. 3: for ‘diamter’ read ‘diameter’.
- p. 27, l. 18: for ‘1843’ read ‘1834’.
- p. 45, l. 1: for ‘Colverstone, six bells’ read ‘Colverstone, six bells and a sanctus’.
- p. 58, l. 4: delete ‘probably’.
- p. 178, l. 6: the reading of the shoulder band (Plate IV, a) should be: I TO THE CHURCH THE LIVING CALL AND TO THE GRAVE DO SUMMON ALL. The waist band (b) is not read.
- Plate IV: printed from the wrong block. Replaced; see the files.
- The folding map: the impression in the pocket is reproduced among the files for reference. The author’s corrections to it follow in their place.
